Hey Climbers: I just wanted to pass on some particulars about the finale this weekend--everthing went extremely well, and the weather was absolutely perfect. We raised over $1,200 in climber donations for Boat Rock.

With the help of the Chaco/Sweet Water Event in ATL, RockCreek/Chaco custom sandal sales at TCrown, climber donations at each of the three events (@$3,600), and TCrown donations to Boat Rock, I'm sure we will have raised enough $$ to cover the rest of the BR note.

As soon as we have a tally on the final expenses (buses, catering, printing, tees, et al) we'll make the official Triple Crown donation to the SCC and CCC as well.

We also raised $2,500 for Habitat for Humanity on Sunday--most of the climbers competing at that event also donated their winnings to Habitat--the HFH representative gave major kudos to the SCC and Triple Crown at the pavilion, and especially on Talk Radio and the local tv news. Habitat is certainly a great cause and the donation provided much needed positive PR for the climbing community that reached the general public.

Major thanks came from the clubhouse manager at Montlake on Saturday--they wanted to pass on sincere thanks to the entire climbing community for supporting the golf club--They truly appreciate our help and support up there--

Montlake requested to have some of our guides--Jim and I met with the clubhouse manager today to donate the remaining guides. We'll mail a care package to the Luken's again too--

We also had a great turn-out at the Rock/Creek (Tommy and Beth Slideshow)-- 160 thru the door and 110 stayed for the show. With the help of Rock/Creek and Tommy and Beth, the SCC also received some great PR via a podcast on Friday as well. MAJOR THANKS (again and again) to R/C for all of their help throughout the entire series.

We'll work on a full write-up this week and get a posting asap--

Triple Crowners! The finale to the Triple Crown is just around the corner, and we have been hard-at-work to make this the best competition in the history of this series. To add to the fun, the event has once again been extended into Sunday!

The Chattanooga Market has asked us (The Triple Crown/Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition) to once again help them raise money and awareness for Habitat for Humanity*, by having an indoor difficulty and dyno competition. These competitions will be held on Sunday December 3 (the day after the Little Rock City/Stone Fort comp).

The location will be the same as our kick-off/awards ceremony site—the giant First Tennessee Pavilion in downtown Chattanooga. This event will coincide with the Chattanooga Market—a weekly event held at the pavilion. The Market will have over 50 local vendors (arts, crafts, and food). The Market typically draws between 1,000 and 5,000 visitors each weekend. We’ll begin taking registrations for the indoor comps at 10 am on Sunday on-site at the First Tennessee Pavilion.

There will be prizes, trophies, and CASH! for top finishers in both male and female categories, and we will be raffling off some fantastic prize packages from some of our sponsors. The entry cost for the difficulty climbing comp will be $20 and $10 for the dyno competition—if you want to do both, the cost will be $25--all proceeds from the entry fees, raffles, and sponsors will go to support Habitat for Humanity.

In addition, Marmot, Chaco, Five Ten, and many others will be on hand to represent their brands. Five Ten will also be debuting their new Anasazi Verde Lace-ups at this event. This is a limited time only run on these hot new shoes—once we run out, they won’t be available until Spring of 2007. Come-out and be the first to own this new top-of-the-line climbing shoe! The price for the new Verde Lace-up is $139—please bring cash or check for purchase. You may also pre-order the Five Ten Anasazi Verde from Rock/Creek Outfitters; these will ship December 4rd.

This event will be a ton of fun, but more importantly, it will give the climbing community a chance to raise money for a fantastic Humanitarian cause. This is an unprecedented opportunity for climbers to support the “greater community.”

There will be more information coming soon about the particulars for the Little Rock City/Stone Fort Competition and the event on Sunday—keep checking the SCC website at www.seclimbers.org and the Triple Crown website at www.triplecrownbouldering.org for updates.

Please help us make this a successful event, and join us for the festivities on Sunday. Click here for directions to the pavilion for the event
Five Ten has cranked out a better version this time, with an impressive heel, nicknamed "magic fingers" due to its phenomenal gripping qualities. The fit and comfort were also updated by the design team; they've effectively rid the shoe of any remaining dead space.

The Anasazi Verde now has the highest friction, most durable climbing rubber "in the universe," which Five Ten calls "Onyxx," making the precision and power of this shoe super detailed.

Your pre-order will ship December 4, 2006. (At least- we're building in a couple days to be safe, but we hope to ship on the 1st).

Pre-order your Five Ten Anasazi Verde Climbing Shoes today at ClimbingGear.com.

In case you're not familiar with the history of the company, here's a little detail from their Web site:

Five Ten leads the shoe industry with innovation. In 1985, Five Ten founder and President, Charles Cole, developed a rubber that made climbing easier. Stealth Rubber soles increased the amount of body weight a climber could exert on his feet before the rubber bond broke away from the rock. Simply by buying a new shoe, climbers could climb better. Since then, Cole has upped the ante with Stealth S1, Stealth C4, Stealth HF (high friction), Stealth Amphibia (for water), and now Stealth ONYXX, which is twice as durable as any other climbing rubber available, with 25 percent more friction.

But rubber is just the start. In the climbing arena, Five Ten is responsible for the modern rock shoe design. Cole invented the first sling shot rand, the first down-turned last, and the first heel wedge to cushion impact. Other firsts include pull tabs on both climbing and approach shoes, baseball stitching in climbing shoes to alleviate hot spots and graded midsoles to adjust the shoe’s flexibility to different climber weights. Cole also invented the fishhook midsole, a leap in rock shoe design because, for the first time, a rock shoe could have stiffness around the toe’s perimeter for precision edging, and a flexible underfoot for smearing and sensitivity. Five Ten also introduced the first self-draining water shoes, and the first ankle to toe lacing on approach shoes, which allows a custom, performance fit.

Because of Five Ten’s commitment to innovation and performance, Five Ten is the shoe-of-choice for the world’s top climbers. Even climbers who are paid high-dollar salaries to wear other brands secretly resole with Stealth rubber. From hiking to paddling to mountain biking, recreational and expert athletes alike know that Five Ten means more than footwear—Five Ten shoes are essential equipment for adventure.

When you buy Five Ten, you know you are getting state-of-the-art technology—from the material of the uppers and the shape of the last, down to the ultra-technical midsoles and the world’s highest friction rubber. When you buy Five Ten, you know you are getting the best. A difference you’ll notice as soon as you step into your shoes.

You didn't think Five Ten could make a better shoe than the ones they have now? Well, believe it, because here it is. This is a limited run, so get them while they last!

Evolve's Bandit is the perfect specimen as a multi-purpose performance lace-up shoe that allows you to excel at micro-edging, smearing, and crack climbing. The full length speed-lacing design provides a precision molded fit with a quick pull of the laces. The integrity webs on the side provide better lateral support and a consistent non-stretch fit over time and the microfiber lining provides a comfortable feel and proves that performance shoes can feel great to climb in. The teardrop shaped MX-2 stiff half midsole adds edging power without sacrificing flexibility in the midsection. This is the ideal lace-up performance shoe for intermediate to advanced climbers who like precision edging power.

Evolv's DEFY is one of their most popular climbing shoes and became an instant hit as soon as they released it in early 2005. It combines the benefit of a comfortable multi-purpose shoe and the convenience of a hook-and-loop fastener performance shoe. With the feel of a sensitive slipper, the DEFY will smear on any slick sloper or stick on overhanging faces while being comfortable enough to wear on long multi-pitch routes or gym marathon-training sessions.

Climbers of all abilities and styles will truly appreciate these shoes after just one day with them. The DEFY is a must-have for every climber who wants a comfortable shoe that fits and performs superbly out of the box.

Inspired by Team EVOLV design feedback and TRAX Rubber Co. technology, the EVO is their new all-around performance shoe for 2006 that is very versatile. With a comfortable and anatomical fit, they can be used as an all-around long route shoe when sized comfortably, or if sized tightly they can serve as a performance shoe. The molded TRAX XF-3 outsole was engineered to have variable thickness gradients of the sole to conform to the foot and provide perfect anatomical support and stiffness and sensitivity where needed. The molded sole is thinner in the arch section for better arch fit and ridged and thicker in the heel section for mild cushioning and the semi-stiff half-length midsole underneath enhances edging power.
